Case study: Asset Tracking for Event Management

INDUSTRY
Event Management
Challenge
Our client was having trouble efficiently tracking assets, assessing true utilization and ensuring that various assets, resources and services were readily available to their customers. They needed a scalable solution for their event businesses.
Solution
We implemented an Azure based cloud platform that could take inputs from various data sources via API and manage analytics, events and a rules based engine, also allowing for outputs via API to other systems/platforms.
RESULTS
The platform was able to provide asset visibility and traceability, improved asset utilization, and provide efficient inventory management.
THE CHALLENGE
Our client is a conglomerate with diverse lines of business ranging from Exhibition Management, Venue Management, Hospitality Services, Food & Beverages, and Event Services to Real Estate and Property Mgmt. In one of their largest facilities, equipment, services, employees and logistics need to be managed across 1 million square feet of exhibition spaces and meeting rooms. The managers were having trouble efficiently tracking assets, assessing true utilization and ensuring that various assets, resources and services were readily available to their customers. They needed a scalable solution that could be implemented in their largest facility and then leveraged across their conglomerate of businesses.
THE SOLUTION
We implemented an Azure based cloud platform (after weighing multiple options) that could take inputs from various data sources via API and manage analytics, events and a rules based engine, also allowing for outputs via API to other systems/platforms.

On premise, we helped the client add sensor technology to assets across their facility and enabled a “sensor gateway” so that the right information would be gathered by the right sensor and synthesized in a comprehensive way for the management team. We integrated this with their Oracle based ERP system to ensure a full picture with real time sensor input and business information like date of purchase, last recorded maintenance event, lease duration etc.

Giving the client a full view of their assets meant they had clear line of sight to all assets and resources and could optimize appropriately, no matter how big the space or which part of their conglomerate business housed the asset.
THE RESULTS
The Azure cloud based platform we implemented for our client was able to achieve:
ASSET VISIBILITY AND TRACEABILITY
IMPROVED ASSET UTILIZATION
EFFICIENT INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
